Plantar Fasciitis

The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue on the bottom of the foot that connects the bones of the toes to the heel. Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of this tissue and is one of the most common causes of heel and foot pain. It can be caused by multiple things including prolonged standing, high impact activities, flat feet or a high arch.

Symptoms

  • Stabbing heel pain
  • Increased pain when first standing in the morning or after prolonged sitting
  • Tender to touch
  • Abnormal walking to avoid pain

  • Splints at night
